AL-KO 34.8 Easy Flex

The AL-KO company offers powerful cordless lawnmowers that can already cope with tall grass. A popular model in this context is the AL-KO 34.8 Easy Flex .

This battery mower is supplied directly with 2 batteries and a matching charger. Therefore, no separate purchases need to be made. Connected in series, the two batteries provide a voltage of 40V so that the speed does not drop even during demanding tasks. They each have a capacity of 2.5 Ah. In addition, the cutting width is 34 cm. AL-KO recommends using it for areas of up to 200 m². The machine is extremely easy to handle because it weighs only 12 kg. This makes it suitable for women and elderly people.

Other features include a 30-litre basket. This ensures that the overall dimensions are very compact. This allows the mower to be manoeuvrable even in the most confined spaces. The basket has a practical fill level indicator and a hardtop. The cutting height can be adjusted centrally between 2.5 and 7.5 cm. In addition, you can fold the handlebar completely to ensure space-saving storage.

AL-KO 3.82 SE Classic

Electric lawn mowers are often an inexpensive and particularly uncomplicated solution for maintaining the lawn. An inexpensive model from AL-KO, for example, is the AL-KO Classic 3.82 SE .

This mower has a rather rudimentary design, which is why you immediately get to grips with handling it. It weighs a feather-light 10.8 kg and is therefore absolutely comfortable to operate. Nevertheless, you can maintain areas of up to 500 m² in a comfortable period of time. This is ensured, among other things, by the tried-and-tested cutting width of 38 cm. The power consumption of 1400 watts ensures that the engine does not drop in speed during longer work.

Here you can adjust the cutting height 3 times, between 20, 40 and 60 mm. The catcher bag has a capacity of 37 litres and a fill level indicator. Because it is made entirely of durable plastic, it is easy to fill and empty. Other features include two integrated handles. Transport is therefore no problem at all. The foldable handle also contributes to this.

AL-KO Classic 4.65 SP-B Plus

Petrol lawn mowers are also part of the AL-KO repertoire. A recommendation here is the AL-KO Classic 4.65 SP-B Plus .

The device has a cutting width of 46 cm and is therefore also suitable for large lawns. The manufacturer specifies an area performance of up to 1400 m². The 65-litre basket also ensures that comprehensive measures can be carried out quickly. It only needs to be emptied at irregular intervals. The AL-KO company offers numerous lawn mowers of different designs. In the petrol lawn mower segment alone, there are over 50 different models. In order to maintain an overview, we will only deal with the manufacturer’s walk-behind lawn mowers in this guide. These can be further divided into the following categories:

Electric lawn mowers can be pleasantly inexpensive in a compact design. Depending on the model, they are intended for small to medium-sized areas. The disadvantages are the higher price for the lithium-ion technology and the rather limited area performance.

Petrol lawn mowers are the first choice for large lawns. Their powerful engine does not break down in speed even during extensive work. It can also cope with high and wet grass if necessary. However, the combustion engine requires a certain amount of maintenance (including changing oil and spark plugs). In addition, the machines are quite noisy and emit polluting exhaust gases during operation.

AL-KO also offers reel mowers. These actually cut the grass gently, via a rotating spindle. Other mowers actually only tear/blow. The mowers in this category guarantee the best quality according to the requirements of the English lawn. It is important to bear in mind that the reel does not cope with grass that is too tall, which is why preparatory work may be necessary at the beginning. For this reason, a cylinder mower must also be used at least twice a week. It reacts sensitively to debris such as stones and wood.

Handling

Handling should of course be as comfortable as possible. Only then does mowing the lawn not become an unpleasant affair and can sometimes even be fun.

The massive petrol mowers have a wheel drive to assist you if necessary, so that you only have to use your own power when turning.

It is imperative that the area output matches the conditions on site. It is primarily influenced by the cutting width.

The larger the lawn area, the wider the mower should be. This makes the work quick and efficient. In narrow passages and in small gardens, on the other hand, a compact mower is recommended because it is more manoeuvrable and agile. An ALKO lawn mower has a cutting width of between 32 and over 100 cm (bar mower). This means that any type of area can be adequately maintained.

The drive also plays a role. Electric lawn mowers with a cable can be powered for any length of time, but their cable can still make operation difficult in some segments.

With a battery-powered lawn mower, you should pay particular attention to the capacity of the battery. This is expressed in Ah (ampere hours). The higher it is, the longer the battery will last. With AL-KO it is sometimes 7.5 Ah, which means that a very good area performance can be achieved. If you have several full batteries at hand, you can of course extend the range as desired.

In narrow angles, a squat basket plays out its advantage, because it ensures that the dimensions of the mower are compact.
